Economic transition is the need of the hour in Tripura. We all are well aware of the fact that Tripura has not advanced much in the industrial sector. But, steps for rapid industrialisation must be taken for the sake of economic development.

The state has immense potential. Given its geographical location and logistics cost advantage, the state has the potential to transform into India’s gateway to eastern economies. The OTPC power project in Palatana and the state’s huge gas reserves will surely stand in good stead for the state’s robust industrialisation. Having the forest areas on one hand and the former royal palaces like Neermahal on the other, the prospect of eco-tourism industry is quite high here. Only the infrastructure is to be developed. All is not lost for the state. With adequate focus and commitment, Tripura can tranform itself and become the hub of economic activites catering to markets in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and beyond.
